East Tennessee Medical Group’s CareToday Clinic Offers Advantage vs. the ER

Posted by – June 30, 2009

ALCOA, Tenn. – Summertime injuries don’t have to be a pain.

rahn_l_015rEast Tennessee Medical Group’s C. Larry Rahn, M.D., thinks we all should spend as much time with our family and friends as possible. That’s why patients should know that walk-in clinics like the (ETMG) CareToday Clinic, 266 Joule Street, Alcoa, Tenn., are a natural alternative to the hectic chaos of a local emergency room.

“For summer-type minor injuries and infections such as bee stings, minor burns, poison ivy and sprains, the CareToday Clinic presents an excellent alternative for these types of ailments. We provide quality care efficiently and conveniently in a quiet setting. By coming to the CareToday Clinic, a patient avoids spending hours and hours in local emergency waiting rooms,” said Dr. Rahn, a board-certified emergency medicine physician and medical director of the CareToday Clinic. The CareToday Clinic is open weekdays, evenings, weekends, and most holidays.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, East Tennessee Medical Group, 266 Joule Street, Alcoa, is Blount County’s most comprehensive physicians’ organization, with more than 50 physicians and allied health professionals, supported by state of the art technology and staff. ETMG was voted the #1 healthcare facility in Blount County in the 2009 Maryville Daily Times Readers’ Choice Awards. Revolutionary Clayton i-house Arrives in Seattle Area

EVERETT, Wash. –  The new, Energy StarTM rated i-house from Clayton Homes has arrived in the Seattle area and can now been viewed, toured and purchased at the Heritage Home Center in Everett, Washington.

The eco-friendly Clayton i-house, which is now available for purchase, launched nationally at the Berkshire-Hathaway Shareholders Meeting in Omaha, Neb. on May 2, 2009 when Warren Buffett showed the i-house to attendees.  Since that time, the i-house has been featured on numerous nation cable television news shows and in newspapers and magazines across the country.

The i-house is Energy StarTM rated, which means the home is at least 30 percent more energy efficient according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  Although home buyers are likely to first notice the stylish design, cutting-edge color combinations and modern furnishings, the i-house also features solar panels, a rain water catchment system, high-end “low e” windows, a tankless water heater, low-flow faucets, easily renewable bamboo flooring and many other energy saving items.

“The i-house will change the way people look at our products and housing in general,” said Kevin Clayton, CEO of Clayton Homes.  “We build these homes in a controlled environment away from the weather, so there’s a huge quality benefit simply because of how we build a home.  We also have far less scrap in our building process than a traditional home, so there are tremendous cost savings we pass along to the homebuyer.”

Built with an exterior of cement board and architectural metal, the home’s most distinctive feature is the V-shaped roof over the primary living space that includes the i-house’s rainwater catchment system and solar panels. The primary living area includes a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, and a deck connects it to a separate living area that features a bedroom or den, a full bath and a roof-top patio.

Clayton Homes says the i-house’s energy costs are less than $70 a month, but that figure drops to less than one dollar per day when the optional solar panel system is installed.

The i-house is consistent with the overall environmental focus at Clayton Homes, which is in the process of obtaining LEED certification – the national benchmark for eco-friendly design – at its Tennessee headquarters.  Clayton has cut energy costs at its offices by 28 percent over the last two years, and has already started implementing many of the “green” features of the i-house into its traditional homes.

Although the i-house is expected to be a popular primary residence, it is also drawing considerable interest from people who wish to have a second home or vacation home because of its affordability, unique design and energy efficiency.  The $8,000 first-time homebuyer’s tax credit, is expected to attract many first-time homebuyers, many of whom will be drawn to the modern design and energy efficiency of the i-house. More information is available at http://claytonihouse.com.

Clayton, the nation’s largest homebuilder, has built 1.5 million homes since 1934.  Clayton homes are precision-built in 35 state-of-the-art, climate-controlled facilities strategically located throughout the United States.

Two Knoxville Commercial Real Estate Firms Merge

Posted by – June 3, 2009

Knoxville, TN – One of Knoxville’s largest commercial real estate companies, Sperry Van Ness/R.M. Moore, LLC is merging with Conversion Properties, another local powerhouse in commercial real estate.  As a result, a unique combined company, unlike any other in East Tennessee is emerging. It will have R.M. Moore’s long-term regional dominance, Conversion’s expertise in the downtown Knoxville market, and the powerful national reach and depth of resources provided by R.M. Moore’s recent affiliation with national firm, Sperry Van Ness.

The principals of the two firms, Roger Moore and Joe Petre, share a combined commitment to customer-centric service at all levels of their respective organizations, which Moore says is one of the reasons why the merger is such a perfect fit.  “Conversion is a strong up-and-coming company with a great downtown presence,” says Moore. “Joe is a strong leader and he will be an integral part of our continued growth.”

Moore and Petre will jointly manage the merged organization, which is retaining the Sperry Van Ness/R.M. Moore name.  Joe Petre says, “Roger and I have been friends since the beginning of our real estate careers; we both have strong companies with complimentary niches.”  The duo says they look forward to the strong peer-to-peer support inherent in this combination.  ”We see a wave of opportunity coming and it’s a great time to strategically align,” says Petre.

Last year, R.M. Moore affiliated with national real estate company, Sperry Van Ness, recognizing the advantages of being part of a network of top commercial real estate firms across the country.  R.M. Moore maintained their original ownership structure and local control.  Nationally, Sperry Van Ness recognized the R.M. Moore office in their Top Ten list last year and ranked Roger Moore 17th out of 1,000 national advisors in the Sperry Van Ness network. “What an amazing accomplishment for Roger and his staff and just another reason why this merger makes sense,” says Petre.

In addition to property sales, leasing and full brokerage services, the combined company has considerable expertise in property management and will continue to emphasize this important service.  All personnel in both firms will remain intact after the merger.  “That was really important to both of us.  With the economy the way it is, we consider ourselves vey fortunate to be thriving right now,” says Moore.
